[Correspondence] Manufactured ruin: what the World Report on Cuba left unsaid
Abstract
We read Joe Parkin Daniels’ World Report1 on Cuba's deepening health crisis with collegial concern about what remains structurally absent from its causal account. Missing is any serious reckoning with six decades of US embargo, expanded sanctions, a State Sponsor of Terrorism designation, and a complete fuel blockade.2 Taken together, these constitute one of the most sustained economic sieges in modern history, with a disproportionate impact on Cuban children.3,4 Such omissions are not neutral.
